Tuesday 9/29/09 - AFTER WORK

- Hitched a ride with my boss to head to the Red Sox game (he was also going).

- Parked down by the Mass Ave bridge and walked with my boss and his cousin to Fenway.

- Stopped to get some cash at the ATM and headed into the park.

- Scouted the food options and decided to just get a bag of kettle corn and a bottle of water. Stood in line for about 10 minutes as I waited for fresh kettle corn to be made - YUM!

- Found my seat and settled in and quickly made friends with the guys sitting next to me while I waiting for Scott to arrived.

- Spent 7 innings chatting with Scott and the guys to my right (they were alot of fun). The game wasn't very interesting as we were pretty much getting our butt's whipped by the Blue Jays. We occupied our time by making jokes and being silly.

- Belted out Sweet Caroline before the 8th inning and things started to pick up.

- Sox scored 5 runs in the 8th, and Pap got three outs in the 9th. Spent the second half of the 9th screaming, shouting, and cheering...rally, rally, rally! With 2 outs and Yuke with a full count, the park was shaking...and abruptly silenced when he struck out. Well, at least they made the last two innings interesting.

- Left the park and walked back to the Museum with Scott to get my car. Looooong walk, but it was a nice night.

- Got the car and headed home. Hit a little traffic on 93 as they are doing road work. Took a short nap while Scott drove.

- Stopped at the Braintree T to drop Scott off to pick up his car and then headed to my parents' house to pick up the boys.

- Both boys were sleeping, but Caden needed his diaper changed and needed to have his pajamas put on. He woke up during the process, but took a bottle as I settled him in the car seat. Scott got Walker and discovered he was running a fever.

- We loaded the boys into the cars and drove home.

- Started my "list" while I waited for Scott to get home.

- Wrote a letter to the Tooth Fairy for Walker, explaining how he had swallowed his tooth earlier in the day. Put that and a picture he drew under his pillow and kissed him good night.

- Back to my "list."

- Posted Monday's "things I did" list to my blog.

- Checked in on Facebook. Hadn't had a chance to take a peek all day.

- Ate a quick bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats.

- 1:15 am - BED!

Tuesday 9/29/09 - WORK

- Drove to work and ate a muffin for breakfast even though my "guts" were still cramping, but wanted to take some Advil and didn't want to take it on an empty stomach...probably a big mistake.

- 9:05: Got to work, greeted my coworkers, turned on my computer, chatted for a minute or two with Jess who had be away yesterday, and then got caught up with email.

- Took some Tums that Lianne offered me.

- Worked on updating my Sparks pages for "Second to Editorial" tomorrow.

- Made a print out of another project I'm working on for my editor to mark up.

- Back to Sparks

- Took a break to review a couple of projects that one of the designers was working on: Harry Potter banners and a "private event" invite.

- Met with the Managing Editor to go over the layouts I had created for The Science Behind... program, so she was up to date in case her freelance editor (who is working on the project) had any questions about what I gave her.

- Met with the design team to go over the program layouts as well to get their feedback. And reviewed some Harry Potter window graphics that another designer is working on.

- Chatted briefly with a freelance designer that we use from time to time who had stopped by for a visit.

- 12:01: I'm hungry. Went down stairs and had lunch with Lianne.

- Got back to my desk and checked voicemail and discovered a message from Walker telling me his tooth fell out, but they couldn't find it and that daddy said he thinks it's in his tummy. Call Scott back and talked to Walker about his missing tooth and assured him the tooth fairy would except a note in replace of the tooth.

- Made a call to a client about a project I'm working on.

- Resent a file to print.

- Went to "The Science Behind..." event meeting to get a report on the status of the event and report on the projects I and MarCom are working on.

- Went to my weekly Assignment Meeting.

- Was informed by the other designers of issues with a project our Intern is working on and had to go in and make adjustments to the file.

- Made edits and fixes to "Your Visit Today" shell and passed it on to the editors.

- Talked with Scott and Walker on the phone about Walker's lost tooth and about some construction happening outside my house.

- had weekly "Show & Tell" meeting with designers and took a close look at a "die" that we got from a printer and tried to figure out how they made it and how it works.

- Made more updates/changes to YVT.

- Updated my "time track sheet"

- Made more YVT changes.

- Made plans with my boss to catch a ride to the ballgame.

- Filled out a print form and sent down a project to print that I had to get a negative made for.

- Passed a bill on to my boss.

- Reviewed YVT with editor and prepared files to be sent out for client review.

- Prepare to send Women In Science invite out to print.

- Took a trip down to the café to get some coffee.

- Got back to my desk and called my mom to let her know that Scott would be dropping the boys off at 6:00, only to find that she sounded HORRIBLE! Am now trying to find another babysitting option so that we can go to the Sox game tonight.

- Sent a sign off to the printer.

- Reviewed layouts of a membership project that a freelancer is working on.

- Went back and forth with my husband and family members to decide "what are we going to do tonight." Even tried to find someone else to go with me to the game. In the end, we're going together, though we may not stay the whole night.

- Sent YVT our for client review.

- Got changed to go to the game.

- Updated this list.

- Heading out to go to the game. Commuting with my boss who is also going.

Tuesday 9/29/09 - MORNING

- 6:15: alarm clock went off. I hit the snooze button.

- 6:24: alarm clock went off again. I got up. Everyone is still sleeping, so it's best to jump in the shower now before children start to raise.

- Took a shower while listening to an interview on the radio with Tom Brady. I really enjoy listening to him talk. I like how he thinks and how he works. Some people may find this shallow, but Tom Brady inspires me. He's a great leader. I think he has lessons that can be used by others...even outside of football.

- 7:04 Got on the computer to check the weather...what do I put Walker in this morning?

- Pulled clothes for Walker to wear and woke him up and dressed him. We were running late this morning, so I wasn't going to leave him to do it on his own. He was already complaining he was "tired."

- Woke Scott up while I put Walker's snack items in his bag and then looked for some clothes for myself.

- Been struggling with some "stomach aches" which as slowed me down a bit, but got my hair dried and my make-up on, while Caden played with stuff in the bathroom.

- Asked Scott to change Caden's bum so I could update my blog before going to work and add several more items to my "morning" list.

- Sat on the couch and tried to catch a story on the Today Show that had to do with Star Wars. I had heard the music coming from the kitchen TV while I was on the computer, but when I went in to see what it was about, the teaser was gone. Sat with Scott through what felt like 10 minutes of commercials and finally they "teased" again, and it looks like it has something to do with Carrie Fisher.

- Watched Caden crawling around, playing with toys, and pulling himself up on the edge of furniture. Chatted with Scott about our plans to meet at the Red Sox game tonight.

- Got up to put on my shoes and pull together some clothes and sneakers to wear to the game tonight, and headed to work.

Monday 9/28/09 - AFTER WORK

- Had a quick chat with my boss about a cartoon clipping he gave me and gave him an update on couple of meetings/discussions I've had.

- Got in my car and muched on Doritos while I drove home and listed to sports talk.

- Got to the kung fu studio about 6:20. Sat and played with Caden, talked with Walker about what he did at school today, and chatted with Scott about how the boys were for him.

- Packed the boys up and loaded into the car and headed to Walmart to pick up some formula, food, and diapers. Listened to Walker explain to me that we'd go back to Walmart the tomorrow night and he could by a "monster" and I kept saying "No, if you go to school all week and you're a good boy, I'll buy you one over the weekend." He finally he decided he'd just buy his own toy. I told him that was fine, but he still had to wait till the weekend.

- Got to Walmart, picked up what I needed. Took a quick walk through the toy department so Walker could tell me what it was that he wanted...when we came back to by him something. I explained that he'd need to save up $10 to buy the toy he wanted, and that lead into a discussion about what "saving" was.

- Headed to the check out. Walker asked for a candy, I said "fine" and somehow we ended up checking out with a Hot Wheels car. How did he finagle that? I don't know, but it cost the same as a candy bar, and is probably better for his teeth...as long as he doesn't try to eat it.

- Got the boys back in the car. Walker discovered one of the Lego figures he brought into the car at kung fu was missing and I tried to reassure him we'd find it when we got home.

- Drove home...still listening to Walker going on about buying a toy "tomorrow." Then it switched to "Mama, you're right, kindergarten is fun, but I still get sad." And that led into a discussion about "happy" vs. "sad" and how "happy" was a better emotion. Not sure if he bought into what I was saying.

- 7:45: Got home, unloaded the boys into the house. Turned on Dora the Explorer while I updated my list (can only keep so many items in my head for so long), but keep getting interrupted by Walker who want me to help count the money in his piggy bank and asking "is this a big one or a little one" as he holds up each coin.

- Counted coins with Walker and explained how 4 quarters equaled $1. Walker is 75¢ short of the $10 he needs to by the toy he wants. Looks like I'll be searching pockets around the house for some quarters.

- Set the DVR to record Dancing with the Stars.

- Changed Caden and got him settled in his high chair so that I can go looking for those 3 quarters.

- Fed Caden while watching Dancing with the Stars in the kitchen, then put away the items that I bought at Walmart.

- Got out of my work clothes and into some comfy sweats.

- Washed bottles (while watching DWTS).

- Got Walker a cup of milk and a handful of chocolate chips (that is his dessert, he doesn't eat cookies or cakes).

- Took Caden out of his chair to play around on the floor for a little while before getting him into his PJs and putting him to bed.

- Changed Cade's bum again and put him in pajamas. Time to put him to bed: 8:35.

- 8:45: Checked email and Facebook.

- 9:00: make shopping list to pass on to Scott when he calls in a little while.

- Back to Email and FB.

- 9:25: cuddle with Walker on the couch and read him a story before putting him to bed.

- Tucked Walker into bed. Gave Scott the shopping list over the phone.

- Folded laundry while watching Dancing with the Stars and Castle.

- Scott came home from food shopping. Helped him put away the groceries...while I continued to watch Castle in the kitchen.

- Made dinner: turkey and cheese melts and mac & cheese (yeah, I know, that is alot of cheese).

- 11:00: sat down in the living room to eat dinner, watch the news, and catch up with Scott on the happenings of the day.

- Quick check of email.

- 11:30: back to the couch to watch Letterman and probably fall asleep while cuddling with the hubby. (YUP, I DID!)

Monday 9/28/09 - WORK

- Made a quick stop at Dunkins for some breakfast: iced coffee and a coffee roll.

- Had a doctor's appointment.

- Swung by my parents' house to pick up my phone that I left in my dad's car. Found it in the mailbox (where I told them to put it since my dad had a morning appointment) and found it there with an elastic wrapped around it and a piece of twine tied to it. I thought "What the..." and then realized it was my dad's way of saying "Here, now you won't loose it again!" (this was the second time in the past week that I had "lost" it).

- Got back in the car to head to work. Made a call to my dad to thank him for my new "phone lanyard." Called my mom to share the story with her. And called Scott to give him the same update. (Yes, all while driving. Bad, I know...but I was in bumper-to-bumper traffic for most of the conversations).

- Got to work and shared the "phone lanyard" story with Lianne, who got a good chuckle out of it and took a picture of me with my new "necklace" with her iPhone.

- Turned on my computer and got logged in to start my day: 10:45.

- Checked email.

- 11:00, work on The Science Behind... program concept and design.

- Checked in on the update of how the Museum's Intern Coordinator's new baby was doing, via the internet posting. The baby was born at 28 weeks. (was reminded to do this because Sarah Lynn brought down our new Editorial Intern).

- Pulled up my Excel document to "track my time" at work, which I forgot to open when I first got in.

- Back to TSB program.

- Took a call from my hubby who wanted to tell me a few things that popped into his mind.

- Helped my boss figure out a couple of computer issues on the new intern's computer.

- Back to TBS Program.

- 12:30 LUNCH! Walked down to to the cafe with Lianne and got a pizza, chips, a drink, and a banana. Came upstairs and ate my lunch and chatted with Lianne about her move over the weekend and the stuff I did over the weekend, among other things.

- Checking in on FB and personal email.

- 1:30: off to a meeting about Escalator signs.

- 1:40: Back to working on TSB program.

- Quick distraction by FB (Lianne told me someone made a comment on her link to my blog - lol!)

- Continued laying out the program and did a quick "dummie" to see how it was coming together.

- 3:00: met with Lianne to discuss the layout of her Sparks pages and made suggestions about rearranging the order.

- Consulted about the logo placement of the Harry Potter duratran.

- A quick look at FB...just because.

- 3:30: Back to TSB. Working on a second design option.

- 4:40: Gave some design feedback to our junior designer on a signage project.

- Made PDFs of the two program layouts I created and sent them off to my Editor (off-site) along with a very long email about what my thought processes were when creating the layouts.

- 5:15: way late. Should have been gone 30 minutes ago, but need to send this list to my home email addy so I can post it in the morning :)

Monday 9/28/09 - MORNING

- Alarm clock went off at 6:15, I got up and hit the snooze button.

- Alarm clock went off again at 6:24. Got up, hit the snooze button again but heard Caden start to squirm.

- Laid in the bed listening to Caden wake up and start playing in the crib. When get sounded like he was ready to come out I got out of bed to get him. The alarm clock went off again just as I got to Caden's crib and I turned it off and took Cade out of the crib.

- Put Caden down in the living room with cartoons and toys and went and brushed my teeth.

- 6:40: started up my daily list.

- Checked email quickly and then Walker woke up.

- Had to console Walker about going to school and explain that he was not sick, that he was making himself cough and that wasn't good. That I know he would miss us, but that he had to go to school and faking being sick was not going to work.

- Pulled clothes for both Walker and Caden, gave Walker his to put on and went to make a cup of milk, for Walker and a bottle for Caden.

- Couldn't find a nipple for Cade's bottle, so had to quickly clean one before making the bottle.

- Continued to console Walker while getting myself dressed and Caden dressed.

- Packed Walker's lunch and helped him put on this socks, shoes, and sweatshirt.

- Kept pulling Caden out of "trouble."

- Brushed my hair, put Caden in the bed with Scott, and gathered up Walker to walk down to the bus stop.

- Waited with Walker at the bus while chatting with some of the other moms and continually confirming to Walker that I would remember to come home.

- Gave Walker a kiss and put him on the bus and headed back home.

- Tried to find my cell phone, but after calling it from the house phone a couple of times, realized it was not in the house or in the car. Believe it's in my dad's car that I borrowed the night before.

- Woke up my husband while trying to update my List.

- Put Caden in the highchair with some Cheerios while I did some organinzing on the computer.

- Styled my hair and did my make-up before getting Caden out of the highchair and getting him settled in his chair to head to kung fu with Daddy.

- Moved cars around so Scott could head to work.

- Called my mom to tell her I think my phone is in my Dad's car and that I'll pick it up later.

- Updated my Blog with Sunday's list.

- 8:35: headed off to my doctor's appointment.

Monday, September 28, 2009

SUNDAY - 9/27/09

- Was woken up at 6:00 by Walker who said he needed cough medicine.

- After sending Scott to go give him medicine (was hoping he could give it to him and then Walker could crawl into bed with us to sleep a little longer -- it's still dark at 6:00) Caden woke up (plan wasn't going to work).

- Got out of bed, got Caden out of the crib and brought both boys into the living room.

- Turned on cartoons for the boys. Found a warm sweatshirt to put on (it feels very chilly in the house, even though the thermostat says it's 69 degrees). Got Walker a cup of milk. Brushed my teeth. Listened to Walker go on about not feeling well and not going to school tomorrow.

- Decided to catch up on Facebook, was interrupted by Caden bumping his head. Consoled him and then made him a bottle and settled him in the living room to drink his bottle and watch cartoons.

- Talked with Walker some more about whether he'd be going to school tomorrow and tried to make him understand that he just needed to rest and we'd see how he felt tomorrow morning.

- Got back to the computer: 6:35.

- Checked in on my blog and see if I've gotten any replies. Got a very nice and thoughtful one from my friend Jan and posted a reply.

- Woke up the hubby to get ready for work (he has a couple of private classes to teach this morning)

- Tried to find something else for Walker to watch on TV. He requested a movie he had watched on the Disney Channel the day before but after looking through On Demand, doesn't look to be something we can "choose" to watch. Finally settled on Tom & Jerry (yeah, it's a classic, but he LOVES it).

- Played with Caden on the couch for a little bit while we watched T&J.

- Helped Walker put a sticker on his calendar (he's counting the days till Halloween)

- Got back on the computer to finally catch up (in time) on my blog and post Saturday's list on Sunday morning!

- Caden leaked so had to strip him down and put all new PJs on him (it's too early to try and find actual "clothes" to put on him...yaaawn)

- Turned on a "The Clone Wars" episode for Walker after T&J was over and gave a kiss to Scott as he headed off to teach.

- Played with the boys.

- Took a break to give Caden some Cheerios and make a bowl of them for myself as well. Walker only wanted another cup of milk.

- Explained to Walker that I still love Caden, but I get made when he bites and that is why I was talking sternly to him. Biting is bad!

- Fed Caden breakfast and watched some news.

- Did some kitchen chores: dishes, swept the floor, emptied the trash...all the while entertaining Caden in his highchair.

- Checked in on a friends Blog.

- Got Caden settled with a bottle in his highchair so I could iron Scott's clothes for this afternoon's wedding: 9:00

- Put Caden down in his crib, settled Walker on the computer with Star Wars Lego YouTube videos, and jumped into the shower and listened to some "sports talk" on the radio.

- Gave Walker clothes to put on and dressed myself and dried my hair.

- Caden woke up and took him out of the crib and got him dressed.

- Scott got home and got ready for the wedding and helped finished getting the boys ready while I did my make-up.

- Packed Caden's bag to head over to Nana and Papa's for the day.

- Looked up directions to Gardner MA where the wedding was being held and loaded everyone into the car to head Nana and Papa's: 10:55.

- Got to my parents' house and unloaded the boys, gave them quick kisses and told them both to be good and then got into my dad's car (that we were borrowing for the drive out to Gardner) and hit the road.

- Made a quick trip to Dunkin Donuts for a late morning breakfast sandwich for the trip and some coffee. We needed the energy for the road trip which would be about an hour and a half drive.

- Drove to Gardner and spent the hour and a half chatting with one another without interruptions from the "back seat." It was NICE! Picked my football teams for the pool I'm doing with my brother and father. And I talked about my blog and the feedback I've gotten and how I'm hoping it will help me and maybe it will help others. Plus it's plain fun!

- Got to the wedding reception site at 12:45, got lei-ed (it was a Hawaiian themed wedding) and gathered with friends and chatted while we waiting for the wedding to begin.

- Enjoyed my friend James' wedding and hanging out with friends. Shared LOTS of laughs and did a little dancing (chicken dancing - lol). Enjoyed the meal and cake. It was a fun day!

- Tracked the Patriots' game via texts from my mom -- PATRIOTS WIN 26 - 10 -- YAY!

- Headed back home at 5:30...listed to reports on the Patriots game and made notes about other team scores for our football pool. Made a quick stop to fill up my dad's gas tank. And got back to my parents' at 7:00 (an hour later than we had planned).

- Looked up the final scores on the days football games and market all the sheets to see how many each of us got right. With two more games to go this week (Sunday and Monday night's games), my brother has the most with 12 correct; I have 8; and my dad has 7 (though my mom picked his games because he wasn't feeling well today).

- Got home around 7:45. Turned cartoons on for the boys while I got out of my dress clothes and put on sweats.

- Made Caden a bottle and got him into his pajamas and put him to bed.

- Got on the computer to update my list.

- Put Walker in the tub while Scott prepared Walker's lunch for tomorrow and repacked Caden's diaper bag.

- Got back on the computer to check in on FB while Walker played in the bath (I can see him from where I sit at the computer).

- Sent out some birthday wishes and then washed Walker's hair. Let him continue to play while I play on the computer for a little longer and Scott headed out to pick up dinner - pad Thai from Sweet Lemons in Weymouth.

- Started a long over do "Good Things" post on FB.

- Got Walker out of the bathtub, dried him off, and got him into his PJs. Got him a cup of milk and let him finish watching Dora (DVRed it when he went into the tub).

- Cleaned up the bath toys and emptied the tub.

- Back to my "Good Things" list.

- Made plans with a friend to pick up a couch that her friend is giving us.

- Tucked Walker into bed: 9ish.

- Enjoy dinner of Pad Thai with Scott and watching Amazing Race (which had been recording via DVR since 8:30ish).

- Finished watching the Amazing Race and turned on Sunday Night Football. Scott cleaned up our dinner and I fell asleep on the couch some time around 10:30.

- Woke up on the couch at 11:45ish...groggily tried to scan through the past our or so via the DVR to watch the 11:00 o'clock news (which came on a little past 11 because of the football game). Caught bits and pieces and I drifted in and out of sleep. Scott then took the remote and turned on his video game and I got up to brush my teeth and then add these last few items to "my list."

- Checked email and FB.

- 12:30am: Just remembered I had a dr. appointment in the morning at 9:00. Have to check my work Meeting Maker to see what else I have scheduled in the morning and send an email to my boss and coworkers that I'll be in late.

- 12:38: Bed!

- Awakened by Caden crying at 2:00. Scott made him a bottle while I consoled him and settled him down. Gave him the bottle that Scott made and put him back to bed and went back to bed myself.

SATURDAY 9/26/09

I've decided not to segment out weekend days like I've done for the week days. Weekends aren't usually broken up in the same manner as my weekdays. I find it slightly interesting that I actually think of my weekdays as "before work, during work, and after work." Is that a good thing or not? What does it mean? I think it's something I may have to contemplate for a while and may help me understand myself a little better. I'll get back to you on this topic...

============================================

- Awaken by Caden at 6:15ish. Took him out of his crib and brought him into our bed for a little while, kind of hoping he'd settle back down to sleep. He didn't. He squirmed around and played and crawled over Scott and I until I took him out of the bed around 6:45.

- Brought Caden into the living room to crawl around. Walker woke up, asked for a cup a milk. That was the beginning of the never-ending "question asking" that Walker does throughout the day.

- Helped Walker find a toy he wanted, got Caden a bottle and settled him in the living room to drink it.

- Started this list, but was quickly interrupted by Walker who had been coughing since he woke up and suddenly had to puke in the toilet.

- Assisted Walker in counting his bag of coins (change he finds around the house) to see if he had enough to by a "big toy."

- Consoled Caden after he fell down and bumped his head on the coffee table.

- Consulted Walker on the value of money.

- Rocked Caden in the rocking chair while he drank his bottle.

- Assisted Walker in the bathroom again because he thought he had to puke again.

- Cuddled with Scott for a few minutes when his alarm clock went off.

- Helped Walker find a specific Power Ranger shirt he wanted to wear. Trying to explain to him it was too small for him, and going through all the shirts in his shirt draw and pulling out the ones he had grown out of.

- Found a pair of pants to go with the shirt, as well as underwear and socks.

- Continually pulling Caden out of things he shouldn't be in and answering Walker's never ending questions about what our plans are for the day and how long until Christmas...

- 8:20 am: Confirmed plans with friends via email/Facebook and made reservations to join them for a ghost tour in Concord.

- Fed Caden breakfast

- Emptied Walker's backpack and lunch box, and reviewed all of the work Walker brought home from school this week and talked to him about it to find out what he'd done this week.

- Reviewed all the info and notices that were in his "Friday Folder." Tossed the ones that weren't needed and posted those that were "Flu Info" and "Box Top for Education" drive.

- Popped on FB to see what was up, but was interrupted by a "crash" from the kitchen and went in to find Caden in the middle of all the plastic cups, plates, and bottles from the little cart in the kitchen that hold all those things.

- Got Caden a bottle and put him down in his crib for his late morning nap and cleaned up the mess he made: 9:05

- Pulled together breakfast for myself and Walker.

- Ate my bagel while watching The Wonderpets with Walker

- 9:45, finally tackled starting up my blog!

- Continued to be interrupted by Walker wanting to watch "movies" on the computer and asking other questions.

- Interrupted again to wipe Walker's bum and then Caden woke up. Got him out of the crib and brought him into the living room so I could go back to setting up the blog.

- Got interrupted when I could hear Caden getting into Walker's breakfast (which takes him for ever to eat). Moved the dish and got back to the computer.

- With children interruptions, took me about an hour to get my blog up and going and make my first 4 posts. Looking forward to keeping it going.

- 11:10, will let Walker watch "movies" on the computer while I get myself and Caden dressed to go out and get some things done...hmmm...I have this long list but still can't understand where the morning went..

- Washed bottles while trying to entertain Caden in the kitchen. Got interrupted by shouts from Walker in the living room. He has seemed to have misplaced a very tiny little Clone Trooper. Finished washing bottles and then helped Walker try to find his guy while also picking up things in the living room. So far the "little man" has not been found: 11:30

- "little man" found: 11:35

- Put Caden down for a nap again (he really didn't take one before), and went back to washing dishes.

- Got interrupted by Walker who needed his "butt wiped" and argued with him to sit on the toilet and "just go!"

- Finished dish washing.

- Scrubbed down the George Forman Grill that we used a few of nights ago.

- Checked email/FB and shared my Blog with a couple of friends. Caught up with my friends "child birth" story.

- Posted more lists to my blog.

- Got dressed as Scott came home and juggled Caden while I did my hair and make-up.

- Packed up the kids and put them in the car. Dropped Scott and Walker off at the park while I ran an errand at the bank. Picked them back up and headed to the Hanover Mall for lunch and to find something to wear at the wedding tomorrow.

- On the way to the Mall, stopped at a mail truck and gave them a box of Octoberfest invites that we had to put in the mail.

- Got to Hanover Mall, had lunch at Friendly's and Scott took the boys to the arcade while I went shopping at Old Navy--so nice to shop ALL BY MYSELF.

- Bought about 3 outfits at Old Navy because everything was on sale or on clarence.

- Hooked back up with the boys, headed out with a detour to Dunkin's and the bathroom before heading home.

- Dropped Scott and Walker off at the house and headed to Randolph to pick up my niece Katie to babysit for the night as Scott and I are getting together with friends for dinner and a ghost tour.

- Brought Katie to our house. Gave her the run down on who eats what, where things are in the house, and when everyone goes to bed.

- Tried to console Walker -- who hates having babysitters -- explaining that we were only going to be our for a little while; that we were definitely going to come back; and that he should really not spend his entire night in his bedroom and play with Katie.

- Kissed the boys goodbye and got in the car to head out for "Date Night."

- Maid a detour to get gas and then off to Concord.

- Met up with friends at the 99 in Concord for dinner and chatted and told funny storied for about an hour.

- Finished dinner and got back in our car to drive down the road to where the ghost tour started.

- Found a parking space, chatted with our friends Bob and Karyn while we waited for people to gather for the tour.

- Tour began at 8:00 and we spent the next hour and a half walking around Concord MA hearing lots of historical facts about the many famous authors that lived there at one time or another AND some of the hauntings that people have reported in some of the different locations around town.

- Chatted with Boy and Karyn for a little while after the tour ended before getting back in our car and heading home.

- Got home just before 11:00, gathered up Katie and drove her back to Randolph.

- Dropped Katie off and then drove to a 24 hour Walgreen's so I could pick up a wedding card for a friend who was getting married the next day.

- Got home, got into PJs and headed to bed: 11:45 (wow! an early night!).

Friday 9/25/09 - AFTER WORK

- Drove to my parent's house to get Caden.

- Visited with my parents, sister, and niece Heather who was visiting from NJ.

- Headed home around 7:30 and met up with a group of friends to put together Octoberfest invites. Enjoyed some pizza and friends company until mid-night.

- Checking email and Facebook before heading off to bed.

======================

WOW, when your time is filled up with pretty much one task (putting together invites and hanging with friend), the list can really be pretty short. That's a "Good Thing"!

Friday 9/25/09 - MORNING

- Awakened by Walker at 4:30 am as he crawled into bed with us.

- Awakened again at 4:45 by Caden squawking in the crib. Got up and got him a bottle and left all the boys in the bedroom and went to sleep on the couch.

- Got about 15 minutes of sleep before I heard the bottle being thrown out of Caden's crib and he started to squawk again. Went in to retrieve the bottle only to find a very smell baby. Changed his bum and put him back in the crib with the bottle.

- 5:15: Caden squawks again, and again I find a stinky baby. Another messy diaper and I decide to cuddle with him on the couch so that Walker and Scott can get some sleep.

- Played and cuddled with Caden until 6ish, then turned on cartoons and started getting things ready for Walker to go to school and finding clothes for myself and Caden to wear.

- Folded a basket of clothes, washed bottles, gave Caden breakfast (Cheerios and bananas - 1st time Caden ate chopped up bananas!).

- Woke Walker up fo school and Scott up for work. Got Walker a cup of milk and asked him to get dressed.

- Ironed my pants and checked back in with Walker to find he still wasn't dressed, so dressed him myself.

- Packed up the items Scott made for Walker's lunch and got Walker's sweatshirt on: 7:10.

- Started my "List" while Scott took Walker down to the bus stop.

- Got dressed.

- Played around on Facebook while Caden played in the living room and then the two of us watched the new "dancing baby" video on YouTube that everyone is sending around.

- Did my hair while Caden played at my feet with all the bath toys he'd emptied out on to the floor.

- Got Caden changed and dressed and picked up the bath toys in the bathroom.

- Did my make up and sent out an email trying to find a babysitter for tomorrow night so Scott and I can have "date night."

- Looked up info on a friend's wedding that we're attending on Sunday. Just realized it was Hawaiian themed. I need to go dress shopping!

- Read a story about the birth of my friend's baby last month. Caden woke up and I got him packed up in his carrier. Time to head to drop him off with Scott at the kung fu school: 9:00.

- Scraped up a few dollars from around the house (I'm broke) to put gas in the car and buy breakfast.

- Loaded Caden into the car.

- Stopped to get gas and at Dunkin's for coffee and a breakfast item.

- Drove down to Rockland to drop off Caden, and chatted with Scott for about 10 minutes about kids and weekend plans.

- Headed to work, only to take a quick detour of the highway to pick up milk with I remembered I volunteered to do for an "Intern Thank You Snack" for the afternoon.

- Got back on the highway, battled a little traffic and got into the office just after 10:30.

Thursday 9/24/09 - AFTER WORK

- Stopped by the bank to deposit a check before going home.

- Got home to find ALL my boys sleeping, so got online and tried to start up my blog via Google's "Blog Spot", but got an error message and couldn't make it happen.

- The boys both woke up from their nap. Caden was soaked through so I had to get him completely changed. Let him crawl around the house in his diaper for a little while and then got both boys ready to head out to bring Caden to "Nana and Papa's" while Walker an I went to his school's open house.

- Got to Walker's school around 5:45 and did a "scavenger hunt" around his class room as he showed me the different things he does each day. Looked at some of the work he's done and pictures that they've taken of him. Saw what his favorite color was and favorite books. Walker gave me a tour of where the bathroom and gym were and I showed him where the pool was in his school (which he didn't know was there) that I use to swim in when I was a kid.

- Headed back to my parents and hung out with them for a little while and introduced Caden to pretzels and apples (he seemed to like both).

- Got the boys packed up and headed home a little after 7.

- Chatted with my neighbors in the driveway for a little while after arriving home and then brought the boys inside.

- Changed out of my work clothes, got Walker his dinner while Caden crawled around the house.

- Checked work email--since I left the office early today--and responded to those that I needed too. Checked in on Facebook. While listening to Walker go on and on about how he knows "I'm proud of him being in kindergarten, but that he will miss his family." and trying to convince him that it's okay to "miss" someone.

- Fed Caden dinner while catching bits of Access Hollywood .

- Let the boys watch some cartoons while I type this list before they get ready for bed. 8:15

- Wiped two messy and smelly butts and got the boys into their PJs while trying to catch bits-and-pieces of Survivor.

- Put Caden to bed and let Walker watch Lego YouTube videos while I finished watching Survivor.

- Cuddled with Walker on the couch for a few minutes after Survivior was over and then put him to bed, read him "The Night Before Christmas" (he's really into Christmas...and it's only SEPTEMBER), and kissed him good night.

- Decided to relax while watching CSI for a little bit but quickly felt all my energy drain. Laid down on the couch, called the hubby who was out having a drink with a friend who was visiting from out of town, and asked him if he could get his own dinner, because I was wiped out.

- Fell asleep about 10 minutes before the end of CSI - damn!

- Woke up at on the couch about 12:20. The house was quiet except for the TV. Thought about calling Scott to see when he was getting home, but then heard typing come from the den and realized he was already home.

- Made myself a bowl of cereal, since I hadn't had any dinner, and chatted with Scott on the couch for about 20 minutes and then went to bed: 1 AM.

Thursday 9/24/09 - WORK DAY

- Got to work around 8:45. Caught up on some more emails and chatted with Lianne a bit about work and non-work related stuff.

- Struggled to come to grips if I was being "hyper-sensitive" about a comment I got from someone and trying to let it roll off my back.

- Picked up a check from accounting. Checked email again. Realized a meeting that I thought I had this morning got rescheduled. Chatted with my boss about how he inspired me to start this damn blog. It's now 9:39

- Consulted with a MarCom editor and passed along art direction to our department intern.

- Filled out my timesheet.

- Wasted to much time on email, because someone in the MOS sent me an email about "Star Wars: In Concert" that I REALLY want to go to.

- Made a "To Do" list, but then got distracted by some junk food that a coworker brought in, and then chatted with a fellow designer about a photo she had edited that had a girl who had a Cheeto smudge on her face...which was one of the junk food items.

- Pulled up files for a mini-poster I need to print and called the printer to inquire about printing specs.

- 10:28 checked email and sent out a couple of quick responses.

- Finalize Women In Science invite and prepare it for print....but was "bamboozled" by the stock photography site I need to download a high-res photo from. Delay, delay, delay...

- 10:40 back to Mini-poster. Sent trial print to the color printer. Reviewed intern's YVT layouts.

- Sent "Finals" to client for WIS invite.

- 11:00 met with JC about design assignments

- Sent mini-poster to final print and reply to emails.

- Reviewed some form layouts that were sent along.

- Had a lunch meeting with one of our printers and our whole department to talk about recycled paper options. Got some good treats!

- OMG, I lost an hour. I have no idea what I did between 1:00 and 2:00.

- Had a design assignment meeting with the design team and discussed projects they were working on.

- Brainstormed with the design team on an event program project.

- Checked email, reviewed projects, tried to plan for "tomorrow" before I headed out the door at 3:30.

- Drove home and was glad for no real traffic.

Thursday 9/24/09 - MORNING

- Was woken up by my 5 year old at 5:45 a.m. who was upset that his "mouth hurt" (ie: his throat hurts) and needed some milk. While trying to calm and assure him, my 11 month old woke up. (Did you know that the sun isn't up at 5:45 a.m. in late September?).

- Got both boys settled in the living room with cartoons and got milk for Walker.

- Brushed my teeth and was then interrupted by Walker who continued to complain his "mouth still hurt."

- Finished brushing and then tried to calm Walker down again and explain that his throat is probably just dry, only to discover that he was really just trying to get out of going to school (the boy is only in kindergarden!!!). Distracted him with the information that tonight is an "open house" at his school and that I'll get to meet his teacher, which made him very happy, but he still needed another cup of milk.

- Decided to do a quick check of email and starting to type this list at 5:55 and interrupted by Caden biting me leg at 6:03.

- Got Caden a bottle and gave Walker juice (how much liquid can one kid drink?).

- Checked my work meeting schedule to see if I could reschedule a late day meeting because I need to get home early to get the boys from my husband before he goes to work, so I can attend the Open House at Walker's school.

- 6:15 tried to get into the shower, but discovered the Caden really needed his diaper changed and figured I should also pull Walker's clothes for school so he can get dressed once I DO get into the shower. (It's only slightly light out at 6:15 a.m.)

- 6:22 checked the weather so I knew WHAT kind of clothes to pull for Walker...think I'm going for shorts today as he doesn't have any clean light-weight pants.

- Took a 10 minute shower while Caden yelled to me from his high-chair just outside the bathroom door.

- Got dressed and had some inpirational thoughts that I had to jump on line and share with a friend (I'm all about thoughts and inspiration the past several days!)

- Packed up Walker's lunch and snack that Scott made last night. Finished getting ready for work. Entertained Caden with Cheerios, while consulting Walker on how many more "school days" he had this week by putting stickers on the calendar to count the days by AND trying to make him understand that Christmas is still 3 MONTHS AWAY!

- Woke up the hubby while still trying to get ready for work and getting socks and shoes for Walker to put on.

- Assured Walker that I understood that he would "miss his family" but he'd have a good day and I'd see him after school and sent him on his way (Hubby returned after the bus left to say "it wasn't a happy morning.")

- Had a quick conversation with Scott about why I'm keeping all these notes and my plan to start a blog and why I think it would be helpful. Also confirmed my plans to get out of work early to be able to pick up the boys before he had to go to work.

- Kissed Caden and Scott goodbye and headed off to work at 7:45.

- Ate breakfast, listened to some entertainment and sports talk, and sang along with some country songs while sitting in traffic. Also did some more thinking about how things went at the retreat and how I can take that info and move forward.

Lori Started a Blog

Wow! Check it out, I'm blogging!

So, I'm a working mom of 2 boys. I have a 5 year old and an almost 1 year old. I work a full time job and in my "free time" I try to help my husband run his kung fu studio...and I periodically actually take classes. That alone, I'm sure you would agree would fill up my day. But there are LOTS of other things I KNOW I do, but some days I get to around 9:00 at night and my boys are put to bed and I look around the house at all the stuff that I NEED to do and I wonder "What the hell did I do today?"

I'm sure I'm not alone in this thought.

To add to my own wonderings, I have to often answer that same question by other people in my life: my boss and coworkers when they need something from me or for some reason think I'm slacking. My husband when he comes home and notices some chores and such not done. My dad...oh, he just asks that question all the time (you have to know my dad). And an assortment of others I may have some responsiblity to at one time or another.

Now, they don't actually PHRASE the question the way I stated it "What the hell...", but often that is how I hear it. And once the the question is proposed, I sometimes scramble to answer it, and then start thinking "what DID I do? I know I did something. I know I did LOTS of somethings."

A couple of days ago I was at a Staff Retreat and my boss brought up this exact subject. Often his employees ask the same question of him, so to start off the retreat he gave us a very itemized list of all the things he did the day before. The list felt almost endless, and in a way, it was. And that got my mind going....my list is endless too! And I'm sure others are as well.

I decided that it might be interesting and informative to keep a running list of EVERYTHING I do each day. I thought it would even be fun to make it into a blog, because I thought "others can probably relate to this." Part of me even thought it would be interesting if lots of people in my life did this, so we could compare day's activities, but that would most likely result in me getting NOTHING done. My list would consist of "Read up on what all my friends, family, and coworkers did today". It sure WOULD make my life easier, but I definitely wouldn't get much accomplished ;)

For many, many years I've been trying to create habits to help me be better organized. I've read lots of books, blogs, and websites on "organization". I've even taken seminars. One of the first things any of these things tell you is that you should track what you do each day and then go back and see how you can improve and streamline. Maybe by keeping this list for a couple of weeks, I can look back and see ways where I can streamline what I'm doing and make better use of my time.

I don't know how long I'll be able to keep these lists going...because YEAH, it's one more thing on my list, and it DOES take up TIME. But though the lists are very looooooong, I try not to put much time into them. I keep a little "post-it note" on my computer desktop and whenever I have a moment, I type up the last few things I did. You'll probably notice LOTS of misspellings (I'm a horrible speller) and some comments may not make any sense at all. That's pretty much because I'm just typing things quickly and I'm not really going back to re-read them for editing.

I don't expect that many will actually read every word of any of my lists, but maybe something will catch your eye and you'll say "hey, I did that today too" or "oh yeah, I can relate." And maybe some people can actually give me some tips on how to organize my day better or how to handle some of the many things I do each day in a more efficient way.

I've been keeping lists for the past few days, so I have some catching up to do (I had trouble finding time to START the blog and when I did earlier in the week, I got some weird error message). This weekend I'll be posting a couple of days' lists in one day. Once I get everything updated, then I'll just post "What the hell I did -- TODAY."

I hope some people get a little bit of enjoyment out of my lists. Maybe even get some enlightenment. And please share some recommendations if you have any.

THANKS!
